Curator's Note
The Spring/Summer 2016 couture collection was shown in Paris in January 2016, in front of a backdrop of cherry blossom spreading over a white trellis. Tamara Ralph built the collection around a garden in early bloom and the 1950s hourglass: nipped waists, rounded hips and a series of corseted bustiers. This dress is runway look 20. The heart-shaped corset bodice is covered in silk organza petals in pale blue, lilac and pearl, each cut and shaped by hand and stitched on individually. The pencil skirt carries two layers of embroidery: an iridescent sequinned ground, and over 100 embroidered circles worked in sequins and beads. In February 2016 Jourdan Dunn wore this design to the London premiere of Zoolander 2 at the Empire, Leicester Square.

Ralph & Russo
Ralph & Russo was founded in London in 2006 by Tamara Ralph, a fourth-generation couturière, and Michael Russo. In 2013 the house became the first British fashion house in almost a century to be accredited by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, showing on the official Paris Haute Couture Week schedule from 2014. Its clients included Meghan Markle, Angelina Jolie and Beyoncé. Each garment was made entirely by hand in the house's London atelier, with individual pieces requiring hundreds of hours of embroidery, hand painting and beadwork.
