Versace
Gianni Versace founded his Milan house in 1978, building it around bold colour, printed silk and a deep engagement with classical antiquity. His signatures, including the Medusa emblem, the Greca border, Baroque ornament, chainmail and safety-pin construction, ran consistently across his collections from 1978 until his death in 1997. The work he produced in this period remains among the most studied in Italian fashion.
