Valentino

Valentino Garavani founded his Rome couture house in 1960, bringing a technical skill in embroidery, lace and construction from his Paris training under Jean Dessès and Guy Laroche that set the house apart. Karl Lagerfeld described him as having given Roman couture the rigour it had previously lacked. Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli succeeded him as co-creative directors in 2008, introducing the Valentino Rockstud and a new house silhouette built around slim A-line dresses. Pierpaolo Piccioli continued alone from 2016, followed by Alessandro Michele in 2024.
