Curator's Note

This Thierry Mugler strapless cocktail dress dates to the 1980s. The black sequinned bodice is internally boned, with gathered fabric crossing the front and fastening into a bow at the left hip. The asymmetric neckline is finished with a folded peaked panel at the right. A gold lamé version of the dress was worn by Kim Kardashian at the 2008 Video Game Awards.

Thierry Mugler founded his Paris house in 1973.
