Curator's Note

This jacket was presented as Look 39 in Gucci's Spring/Summer 2015 collection, one of Frida Giannini's final collections for the House. The military-inspired construction and decorative braid detailing reflect a recurring theme throughout the collection.

Frida Giannini was Gucci's creative director from 2006 to 2015, bringing the house's own archive to the centre of her work: the Gucci Flora print, the Bamboo bag, the Horsebit, the Web stripe, and reimagining these codes for a new decade. Her collections are characterised by a slim, elongated silhouette, floral printed silk, tailored suiting and embellished eveningwear. As collector interest in 2000s and early 2010s designer fashion grows, her work is increasingly recognised for its construction quality and deep connection to Gucci's established visual language.
