Curator's Note

This orange silk trench coat is by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, as seen on the Autumn-Winter 1996-1997 runway. Cut in 100% silk, it takes a double-breasted form with a pointed collar, storm-flap detail and an inverted back pleat with a storm shield across the upper back. Tonal Chanel CC-logo buttons, buttoned shoulder epaulettes and a detachable self-fabric belt complete the design.
