Chanel 'Barbie' Jacket by Karl Lagerfeld (SS 1995)

Curator's Note

This jacket is from the Chanel Spring/Summer 1995 ready-to-wear collection by Karl Lagerfeld, known as the 'Barbie Collection' or 'Microsuits' series. The long sleeve yellow version of this jacket was worn by Trish Goff on the runway and by Claudia Schiffer in the 1995 Chanel campaign photographed by Karl Lagerfeld. The short sleeve version was worn on the runway by Naomi Campbell and later by Kim Kardashian. Alexandra Leclerc wore a variation in lilac. The jacket also appeared on Fran Fine in the American sitcom The Nanny.
