Curator's Note

This two-piece Chanel suit by Karl Lagerfeld is made of black textured wool-blend fabric, the jacket fastening with an asymmetric gold-tone zip finished with a circular CC logo pull, framed by a wide pointed collar and a fitted waist. The matching pencil skirt carries two front and one rear CC logo zip pulls. The suit was seen on the Autumn-Winter 1992-1993 runway and featured in the Chanel Autumn-Winter 1992-1993 catalogue, photographed on Claudia Schiffer by Karl Lagerfeld. It is part of the Cornell Fashion + Textile Collection (Accession Number 2002.05.076ab).

  • Two-piece Chanel suit made of black textured wool-blend fabric
  • Jacket features an asymmetric gold-tone zip fastening with circular CC logo zip pull
  • Wide pointed collar
  • Fitted waist
  • Long sleeves with gold-tone CC logo zip at the cuffs
  • Matching pencil skirt with two front and one rear CC logo zip pulls
  • The original decorative buttons are no longer present. The jacket fastens with its original zip, so this does not affect wearability. The buttons have not been replaced in order to preserve the integrity of the piece
