Vivienne Westwood

Vivienne Westwood is one of the most influential British fashion designers of the 20th century. She began her career in the early 1970s, working with Malcolm McLaren from their boutique in Chelsea, where together they are credited as the primary architects of punk fashion in London. Her work subsequently moved far beyond punk, drawing on 18th-century costume, corsetry, Harris Tweed and British aristocratic codes to interrogate class, gender and social convention through clothing. In her later years she became one of fashion's most prominent climate activists. Her designs have been worn by the Sex Pistols, Madonna, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Rihanna across five decades of music, film and popular culture.
