Tom Ford was appointed creative director of Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche in 2000. His collections drew on the house's established codes of bohemian femininity, fluid silk eveningwear and the Le Smoking, while bringing richly referenced geographic collections that remain among the most distinctive of his career: the 2001 Mexican collection, the 2002 African Safari collection and his 2004 Far East finale.
