Curator’s Note

This gown from Narciso Rodriguez’s Spring - Summer 2005 collection is made of turquoise silk with a series of joined vertical panels constructed through the front. The back is cut away, with a separate panel held by spaghetti straps, exposing the back and continuing into a long train. The design appeared on the runway that season and was famously photographed on Jennifer Lopez by Mario Testino for Vogue (January 2005), picturing her wearing the gown by a swimming pool, holding back a group of Doberman Pinschers on leashes. The image was later featured in a Mario Testino exhibition.
