Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior

Maria Grazia Chiuri was appointed creative director of Christian Dior in 2016, becoming the first woman to lead the house in its then seventy-year history. Previously co-creative director of Valentino alongside Pierpaolo Piccioli, she brought to Dior a sustained engagement with feminism, craft and cultural collaboration. Her debut collection featured the now widely referenced "We Should All Be Feminists" slogan, and her subsequent collections drew on sources ranging from Impressionist painting to Andalusian dress, Indian craft traditions and the work of feminist artists including Judy Chicago. Each season was staged as a dialogue between the house's archive and a specific cultural or historical reference point. She stepped down as creative director in 2025.
