Set designer Michael Howells transformed the venue into a Manhattan rooftop, with a star-filled sky, chimneys and flames. The collection was inspired in part by the Italian photographer and political activist Tina Modotti. Galliano described the collection as a combination of urban daywear, eighteenth-century tango sportswear and sportswear worn with high heels. The clothes included brightly coloured tweeds, knitted dresses and parkas with fur-trimmed hoods. Long asymmetric skirts drew on Dior’s 1940s Zigzag line, and so does this coat. It has a fitted waist and a large shawl collar edged in matching mink fur.
