The collection was devoted to the fabric that has been associated with Chanel since Gabrielle Chanel began borrowing the tweed jackets of the Duke of Westminster during their visits to Scotland in the 1920s. Viard took inspiration from the colours of the Scottish countryside and the River Tweed, where Gabrielle Chanel would gather flowers and plants to show local weavers the shades she wanted for her fabrics. The runway itself was covered in pale green tweed to evoke the river, while the walls and seating were also upholstered in the material. This pink and brown checked tweed jacket appeared as Look 4 on the runway. It has a high collar, a fitted waist and a flared, pleated hem, with crystal-set buttons along the front and cuffs.
